What to Wear & How to Prepare for Your Session

You've booked you're session and can't wait to have a fun session with us!
Then a question pops into your head..WHAT DO I WEAR?!

Here are a few quick tips on what to wear and how to prepare for your upcoming session.

Clothes:
Just because you're having photos done together doesn't mean you have to wear matching shirts!

Try to avoid wearing all the same colour shirts. Instead, try picking a colour family. Example: warm colours like reds, golds, and rusty colours or cool colours like blues, greys and purples. Go ahead and mix patterns and fabrics - as long as the colours tie the look together!

Remember to avoid anything with big logos on it that may distract from the most important part of the photos - you!

Wear things you would normally wear. Don't wear high heels or a tight fitting shirt just because you think they'll look good, if you're not comfortable in them, it will come across that way in your photos.

One of the best pieces of advice on the subject of what to wear that I've heard is "Dress to match the couch"! Sounds odd but if you're planning on displaying photos as large prints or canvas prints above your couch, it makes sense!

Accessories and Layering:
Accessories such as scarves, hats and jewellery can add dimension and interest to your photos. Also, consider layering with things like jackets, cardigans, etc. If you get too warm or we think it's too distracting you can always take some layers or accessories off.

Glasses:
If people would absolutely not recognize you without your glasses, then keep them on for the shoot. Otherwise, consider taking them off to avoid distracting glare and reflections.

Props:
Bringing props are a great way to personalize your session! Bring things that reflect who you are. For example: if you're a family who loves board games, bring your favourite game along to the shoot!

Choosing props that will make friends and family say "That is so you guys!" will make your photos that much more special.
